a few weekends ago dek and i got up bright & early to snap some photos & play with our new dji mavic pro drone. i had seen this “sun mural” before from other dallas bloggers & it’s on the “deep ellum 42 murals walking tour” and i really wanted to see it for myself and take some photos in front of it and then use the dart railway station across the street as a backdrop, too. there are so many places for photos in this area, we chose this one for that day, but plan to go back to find more. let me know in the comments if you have any favorite walls/murals in deep ellum or around dallas that i need to go check out!!
the drone playtime lasted for about 20 minutes until a gust of wind came through and dek accidentally crashed the drone into the side of a wall – scroll down for a short video we got and then the crash video. this drone is actually really resilient and has sensors to avoid hitting objects, etc. but he was just flying it too close to the wall to try to follow me. luckily, only the propellers were “injured” and he was able to order new ones online for not too much, but we couldn’t play with it anymore after that and that was right at the start of our morning….womp womp. we will definitely be experimenting more with it and trying to capture more short videos as i love the birds-eye perspective.
i opted to wear something dark so i wouldn’t blend in with the yellow behind me and this recent $10 purchase from ross was what i happily settled on. since it was a little chilly that morning aaannnddd i didn’t want my ass to hang out i paired it with gray skinny jeans and some fun leopard chunky heels (last seen here). the pretty lace sleeve detail is what i love most about this dress (not to mention the price!) & it has a flattering silhouette, so it was a win all around.
no one was at the dart station this early so we had it all to ourselves as the sun was just coming up.
we were careful to watch for the train, but i love a good train station/railroad backdrop.
