my family & i recently returned from cancun, mexico where we had the most amazing time! this was such a special trip because it was our first international adventure with baby aero who was just shy of one year old and it was our first time traveling with atlas as a toddler (he’s almost 3)…and they both did amazing! plus my mom, sister, brother and his girlfriend all joined in on the fun. to document this occasion we booked a beach sunrise family photoshoot so we could have some memories frozen in time & i’m SO glad we did!

shop my look:
we did a similar beach sunrise family photoshoot last time we were in cancun, but this year we had a few more family members which always makes it more fun! we also used a different photographer since arturo, the awesome guy we worked with last time, was unavailable. he kindly recommended anel from amorcito corazon studio & we’re so happy we got to meet her and work together because she is the sweetest person, made us feel completely at ease and natural in front of the camera, was amazing with the kids/our big group and just super talented…scroll down to see her beautiful work!
my family & i stayed at finest playa mujeres (see my review & more photos of our stay here) and we would have done the photoshoot at the beach there or around the resort since it’s so gorgeous, but they charge a hefty fee for outside photographers, so we decided to meet at an outside location. anel helped with location recommendations prior to us arriving so all of the logistics were figured out. she even helped with coordinating a taxi van to pick us all up & wait for us at the location (with the AC running!!!) to bring us back to the resort after it was over, which was sooo convenient.

we decided to meet at the punta cancun lighthouse. it ended up being the perfect location because it allowed for different backdrops and scenery all in one spot. the only thing to note about this location is that the lighthouse is about a 10-minute walk through the sand on the beach from the parking lot, so leave your stuff in the car if you can! i made the mistake of bringing and having to lug around our heavy diaper bag full of totally unnecessary stuff.

anel captured us so beautifully that you wouldn’t even know there were behind-the-scenes struggles of any kind. we still were dealing with two sleepy kids since we had gotten up so early. atlas needed to be bribed with suckers for smiles (hence the red sucker you’ll see as the photoshoot progresses) & the sweat dripping down my back and face from switching off carrying babies and the diaper bag was unavoidable. regardless of how hot or “hard” it was, the images turned out so special because they have my favorite people in them & i can’t wait to frame some around our home!

seriously, if you want to book a beach family photoshoot in cancun, contact either arturo or anel & tell them i sent you! they will blow you away with their amazing talent & kindness 🙂
