happy monday friends! hope you had a wonderful weekend & got to relax, have some fun, catch up on your shows, get outside, etc. i did all of the above!
it started on friday night with a scavenger hunt on lower greenville avenue hosted by lowest greenville collective where we went around to different participating restaurants and retailers in search of a hidden token, once you found the 2-inch laminated “G” (for greenville) you would tell the staff and they would stamp your card and if you made it to all places, checked all the boxes and shared on social you were entered to win tickets to a comedy show at the new four-day weekend venue on greenville. i didn’t end up winning, but it was still fun to walk around with dek and visit some places we had never been to before.
on saturday dek & i went to the apple store on knox so he could replace his 2-year old iphone battery. we made a brunch date out of it and headed to taverna (where sean lowe was eating at the table next to us!!!!) while they fixed it. i wore this buffalo exchange dress as a skirt & got so many compliments on it! it has no label so i’ll never know where it came, but i know it’s a piece i’ll wear over & over. it’s the perfect length and what drew me to it originally was the emerald green color and fun pattern, not to mention the price…it was like $18! it was a little chilly that morning (i’m such a wuss) at 65 degrees so i wore it as a skirt with my trusty ‘ol h&m jean jacket buttoned up over it. i felt very “me” in this outfit and was so inspired by it that i made another trip to buffalo exchange after brunch to load up on some more special ‘one-of-a-kind’ finds. it was the first day in a while where it was actually warm in the afternoon & got up to 80 degrees here in dallas so after solo-shopping i met up with my sister & we took our dogs to breckenridge park to walk for a bit and then after got a sweet icy treat of bahama bucks. i got watermelon & coconut with their sour sand sprinkled on top & it was sooooo good!
then on sunday we did yoga with dogs at mutts cantina. it was nuts, completely chaotic but so much fun and so entertaining. i went with my mom (her dog ollie), my sister (her pup tucker) & we met our friend lauren there (with her pup finn). kaiser was in heaven! he was worn out by the end of it all but probably could have stayed to play for hours. he’s still a puppy & we’re still training him to obey, not pull on the leash, etc. so he was wild running around & giving unsolicited kisses. we all got so dirty that baths were mandatory once we got home. kaiser doesn’t really like being bathed but he’ll do anything for treats so that’s how i lured him in 😉 see our pic from doggie yoga here.

of course after brunch i haaaddd to have a chocolate shake from the highland park soda fountain, they have the best shakes in town!

have a wonderful week!
dekel & i are headed to south beach in miami!!!!!!!!!! we’ve never been and we’re so excited to spend a few days soaking up the sun and exploring a new-to-us place. this weekend was spent cleaning the house since my sister will be holding down the fort and dog-sitting for us and gathering last minute things like sunscreen, bug spray, books (murder mystery for me!) and packing. this vacation couldn’t have come at a better time, we’ve seriously had 2-weeks of rain here in dallas & i’m so over it. i hate feeling cooped up in the house and being cold so getting to shop for new bikinis and busting out my shorts made me so happy! we’ve never been to south beach so if you have any reco’s please leave them in the comments below 🙂 we plan to take photos & try to make a cool video of our trip which i’m excited to share once we’re back.
meanwhile here is a look i wore today to lunch with dek, my mom, sister and grandmother at dugg burger. have you ever heard of it or been? we went to the casa linda location in east dallas & they’re a cool concept because the literally digg some of the bun out so there’s more room for toppings, like crispy onion strings, baby tomatoes, grilled mushrooms coleslaw & more. we have been a few times before, but this pic was what convinced us to go because they recently added a buttermilk chicken sandwich to the menu & it was sooooo good! my meal was complete with fries & an oreo chocolate shake, here’s a pic of my meal if you would like to see. #happygirl
this green sweater dress is a $15 score i found at marshall’s a few weeks back & i’ve already worn it a few times, love pairing it with otk boots or tights & booties.
$6 earrings from sam moon
still loving these kohl’s boots i picked up on black friday weekend, they seem to have since sold out but they’re so comfortable and easy to walk in and wear for hours at a time.
have a great week!
happy hump day – i hope you’re having a great week so far!
mine could have kicked off a little smoother, but it’s alllll good. yesterday i went to get in my car to drive to work and saw i had a flat tire, exhibit a:
dekel had already gone to work, so i worked from home, calling into the meetings that i could, and he needed to come home early & help jack my car up to take the tire to get patched. i basically felt stranded and helpless, but man am i thankful for my husband!
anyways, this weekend was an eventful and productive one. one of the highlights from it is that dek & i booked our costa rica trip!!!!!!! we are going at the end of february for a week & are soooo freaking excited to get a taste of the #puravida and explore and see the nature, wildlife and beaches there. once we nail down where we will be staying and what experiences we will be doing, i will share with you guys, it’s going to be an adventure of a lifetime for sure!
below is a look from this past weekend, i love wearing all black and that’s how i dressed…except for this gray puffy coat from target (last worn here), which i absolutely love.
pearl embellished sweater & black ribbed jeans from zara
while browsing the racks at ross the other day with my mom & sister i came across this long, white, fuzzy cardigan sweater & loved it! i could imagine wearing it belted (as i do with most things) or paired loosely over a simple, chic outfit. my mom even said “it’s so you!” the design and texture reminded me of something you could find at anthro for a hefty price, but this only set me back 21.99.
i paired my new sweater over a pale pink t-shirt, black jeans from zara (sadly, the exact ones seem to be sold out, but here is a similar pair from gap), tan booties from target & some of my favorite earrings from a boutique in plano.

this tie-sleeve dress was borrowed from my sister’s le tote box from this week. #swoon
she subscribes to this clothing rental service where every few weeks she goes online, picks out a few new things and they ship them to her door. they have great designer pieces and we always love the vince camuto items. i borrowed this dress to wear out to dekel’s birthday celebration and paired it with my trusty black urban outfitter’s boots that i’ve had for 7 years now. (i first posted about them here) the tie-sleeve detail was enough of an accessory so i just added this dainty gold dachshund necklace that mirelle gifted me for the holidays, scroll down for a closer photo – it’s so cute!!!
i’ve been looking for a cute pair of black jeans without holes in them for a while now, don’t get me wrong, i looovvvve a good distressed detail but this weather has me wanting to cover every inch of my body. i found these beauties from zara the other day while shopping with my sister & they won me over. snug to the body, a little high-waisted, which i like, and with that special black-on-black embroidered embellishment, i couldn’t pass them up.
yesterday dek got home from work relatively early, around 4, and instead of heating up the leftovers we had in the fridge…we put on our heavy coats, braved the cold and went out to haystack, a cute little burger place in the shopping center right by our house. it was an impromptu date night and a great reason to wear my new pants. i paired them with an oversized pale pink sweater (it’s mirelle’s) & tan suede boots that i scored for $20 in a vintage shop when we were in LA.
love the barely-there, black-on-black embroidered detail
loving my new, shoulder-length hair
see these boots also worn with a vintage dress, here
his: chicken fried burger with jalapeno-bacon cream gravy
hers: haystack burger
& we shared the half/half, and we each had a beer, of course
i am fully on board with this whole velvet trend. what about you?
i’ve been scooping up tops, dresses, tights and everything else i can find in this material. while out #blackfriday shopping at jcp last week i walked right by these tracksuit jogger pants and while they’re not something i would normally reach for, at ~50% off they were hard not to try on. and then, when they felt as-soft-as-they-look it was hard not to buy them.

what do you think? yay or nay?
last month i won an instagram giveaway from steel city pops through @dfweatsss and i saw this post about thier “pop of the month” which made me basically drool on my phone (!!) so after our weekly sunday lunch with grandmother yesterday i convinced the crew to head over to greenville avenue for a sweet treat, “on me.”
they offer a simple concept of choosing between a ‘fruity’ or ‘creamy’ pop and then you can either enjoy it naked or dip & drizzle it…oh, and don’t forget the toppings. we all went the ‘creamy’ route this time – my mom got chocolate, i got mint chocolate, my grandmother got butter pecan and mirelle got the pop-of-the-month, which i basically ate half of too but they have a looottt of really good seasonal options, see the full dallas menu here. november’s featured pop is S’MORES! it’s a creamy toasted marshmallow pop, dipped in milk chocolate and dredged in graham cracker crumbles.’ it was the perfect combo of creamy caramelized goodness with a slight crunch of the milk chocolate shell with those crumbles on top. i was even dipping my mint chocolate pop in the graham cracker crumbles they were soooo good. if you have an opportunity to try steel city pops, definitely do so. can’t wait to see what they come up with for december!
top- plato’s closet, jeans- marshalls in vegas (last worn here), boots- target, scarf-gifted (similar styles here)
my goodies didn’t end with yesterday’s post….if you’re interested, read on for a few more things i picked out this #BlackFridayThursday.
aside from these amazing jeggings from jcp, i also couldn’t leave these beautiful earrings behind. if you know me at all, you know i’m a bit of an accessory junkie. i might not wear a lot of jewelry all the time, but i consider myself a collector hoarder of sorts. i love a good pair of statement earrings just as much as i love a dainty necklace 🙂 and since this pair was on sale for $9.99 & screamed my style, done! the hardest part was choosing between the colors (check out more pretty pieces here)…at that price i might just order another pair. lastly from this store is this lace-up sweater that was also $9.99, such a cute and comfortable piece at a great price!
old navy is one of my favorite spots to buy jeans and graphic tees. while i didn’t find any tees i needed, their rockstar style jeans get me every time. this pair is velvet and in the prettiest, deepest color emerald green, i was lucky they still had one size 8 left!
target’s doorbuster of $4 tank tops definitely got us in the door, who am i kidding we would have gone there regardless. but who doesn’t love walking around target?! at such a great price (these are usually $8!) i got this tank in black, emerald green & maroon.
these over-the-knee boots were on sale for $30 from kohls, i wore them around the shoe aisle for a few minutes debating whether i would wear them and could justify it, but the price is pretty insane and my sister’s opinion helped push me over the edge & i’m glad i bit the bullet. i really do love them! i only own one other pair of otk boots and they’re in more of a camel brown color, so these act as more of a neutral & i love that you can wear them up, as-is, or folded down. they are super comfortable & i especially love the cute tie detail on the back.
i wasn’t really planning on #BlackFriday shopping this year but after eating such a heavy lunch on thanksgiving and seeing how bad the cowboys were playing, going to poke around with my mom & sister and moving my legs didn’t sound like a bad idea. so would you call that #BlackThursday shopping? i was worried the stores would be insane and the lines would be ridiculous but it wasn’t even crowded. it was actually quite the opposite & in some cases we had full dressing rooms to ourselves. we only waited in line at one store too and it was for 5-10 minutes so not bad at all!
to start with, we went to jc penny’s. i had nothing specific in mind to buy from there, but stumbled upon these jeggings amongst other things. they’re arizona brand with 4% spanx so they fit like a glove and have the perfect amount of stretchiness. they don’t feel stiff or like they’re going to fall down in the back or get loose after a few hours, which i hate. this is not a bragging moment, but since I lost some weight (~20 pounds since may) i’ve had to re-evaluate my closet and figure out my sizing all over again. this was the first time in a long time i’ve bought a pair of jeans in a size 7. i know size is just a number and i vary from store-to-store myself, but i’ve always struggled with my weight and ever since i did the keto diet and majorly cut carbs, i’ve kept the weight off and started to fit in smaller clothes and it made me “eek!” inside when i took a 7, a 9 and an 11 into the dressing room and walked out with the 7. all smiles over here.
next up, kohl’s had $9.99 sweaters as doorbuster deals and this jewel-toned beauty in a polyester chenille blend is one of the things i scored from there. it’s the softest thing i’ve ever put on my body. if you own anything in this material, you know what i’m talking about! i was tempted to wear nothing underneath…or maybe i didn’t, you’ll never know, ha!
last, but not least are these super cute and comfortable booties from target which are under $20 from the clearance rack in-stores. the tan color is so versatile and the heel height was just what i was looking for – a great bootie to wear to work!
another full outfit of #BlackFriday buys coming up tomorrow, be sure to check back!!
